We can't change the past... We can build a better future
For some of us with Attention Deficit Disorder it feels like we are always one step behind. We can't figure out why we spend hours trying to take care of chores and responsibilities that others seem to take no time and little effort to do. Finding the answer to that question is quite simple. Discovering and implementing changes that will actually help is not so easy.
Many of our problems come from the difference in the way our pre-frontal cortex operates. This is not caused by a disorder but rather by an inherited trait that worked very well for our ancestors but not today. When we were hunters and lived in open spaces with an extended family who supported the group these traits were very helpful. Today with the nuclear family, work that keeps us indoors most of the time and supportive relatives hundreds of miles away the traits that worked so well previously now just cause us trouble.
Do you feel like life is rushing past at the speed of light and you can't keep up no matter how hard you try?
The characteristics I'm referring to are the ones they identify as symptoms of attention deficit disorder. they include distractibility, a hyperactive mind an/or physical hyperactivity, memory problems, lack of attention, boredom, organizational problems, .problems with time management. I guess if you're reading this page you know most of the things they list.
The thing is that once you find a medication to help with the concentration and focus that's not the end of your work. When people discover that the medications don't help in many of the areas they need help in they give up and blame the meds. The truth is that even with medical help there are still many things that we have to work around in order to have the life we want.
This is where coaching comes in. It is possible to have the life you have been striving for. What you need is a willingness to do what it takes to make the changes that can, in the end, make your life more liveable. It will take some time because this type of change doesn't always come easily to us but we can do it.
I know because I was able to come out of that dark cave and into the light of future possibilities when I found the help of a coach. The experience of being able to change so much about myself was so incredible to me that I decided to become a coach myself.
I have been where you are.
I have been at that place where I thought things could never improve. I felt I was stuck with a life that was only half lived. No time for friends or doing what I really wanted to do because I was always so far behind in my day to day existence.
With the help of an adult ADHD coach you can change your future. You can create a better life. You can follow those dreams that you have cast aside because you just couldn't find the time or energy to do what was needed to bring those dreams into your reality.
With a coach working with you, working toward the goals you have, you can make those dreams come true. I will work on your agenda. I will support your dreams. I will stand with you.
Together we can find systems to help you get all those little things taken care of and put out of your way. Without those small everyday chores holding you back you will have the time to work on your future.
It doesn't matter what age you are. There is always time to make the future brighter.
Whether you are 26 or 62 you can take the time to improve your life. I was 52 when I was first diagnosed and started looking for answers. Let me show you what I have learned. Let me share the experience of learning how to manage your life. Let's work together to make all those dreams you have into a reality you can live.
Whether you want to return to school, have a dream of starting your own business or want to make your retirement years the best years of your life the time to start is now.
