This Month'sTip
If you learn easiest when you can hear the content spoken to you then you are an auditory learner. For you it might help you recall what you need if you make a recording of yourself reading the material. This can help on several levels. You will get some of the information as you read the material .You will hear the material as you record it. You will have the recording to listen to as you drive, jog or work in the yard
Editorial
This is a combination issue because I wasn't able to get one out last month. This September I had too much on my plate and made the choice to let the newsletter slide. Besides what I had going on with my coaching business I became very involved with getting information out about ADD Awareness Day for September 14th this year. It was only the second awareness day to be set by the United States Senate and I wanted to spread the word in my community.I'm in recovery mode at the moment LOL. This is so important for those of us who tend to take on too much at one time. When we make the choice to add that extra serving to our plate of responsibilities we want to keep in mind that there are limits to what we can effectively handle. We need to take into consideration the time it takes for us to recover after a period of overload. If we don't have time available to recoup we have to decide which things are most important and step back from the ones that come out on the bottom of the list. It seems that I didn't step back quite far enough and have had to deal with the consequences. Another lesson for me and maybe one or two of you if you have the ability to learn from the missteps of someone else. Unfortunately I usually have to learn this type of lesson first hand and several times before it sinks in completely.I think I'll put a note on my calendar for next Awareness Day to be better prepared. Meantime let's try to keep the purpose of that day in mind all year. To help people understand what ADD really is and destroy the myths that keep people from getting the help they need.
ADHD in the News
This is an article that many of us can identify with. It's good to have the reason for some of the things we blamed on a lack of will power. It's more like self medicating. So grab your coffee and cigs and read on : -)ADHD a Predictor of Future Smoking <http://www.jointogether.org/sa/news/summaries/reader/0%2C1854%2C578375%2C00.html>
